He opens his eyes again, catching the tail end of her mouthing the words of the toast, and smiles a little, then takes a look at the menu. Which is, unfortunately, in Aurebesh, but until he gets a chance to teach her how to read it, he can translate for her. "At some point I should probably teach you how to read the writing system most people use here," he notes, looking back up at her. "The good thing is it'll be easy to learn. English and Basic are the same language; they just use different writing systems. Every symbol in Aurebesh, the writing system used here, equates with one in the Roman alphabet." Another brief pause, and he adds, "I could teach you to understand the Chiss trade language, Cheunh, as well, if you like. Though it'll be difficult for you to speak properly. It's hard for almost all non-Chiss to speak."

"I learn fast..." She taps the left side of her head, where the cybetic enhancements are visible. "I am not as good as Swan or Mouse, but they are more experienced than I, and were gifted with different abilities."

"I would be glad to be your student."

He smiles. "I would be glad to be your teacher," he replies. "Among other things." He scoots his chair around a little closer to help her with the menu. His frequent visits to Ed's version of Earth have left him with a decent understanding of the food there and which kinds of foods in his galaxy are similar. While he goes through the menu with her, he asks, hoping to use the information to make a few recommendations, "What kinds of food do you generally enjoy most back home? A particular kind of meat, or anything else...?"

"Maybe both..." She lightly teases him. Leaning close to him as he helps her understand the menu.

"Salmon. Chicken. Red meat... potatoes. Pasta. anything really."

He laughs gently. "I'd like that," he replies, leaning in close as well.

He nods and points out a few items on the menu that are similar. He's in a red meat mood himself, and one of the native bovine species on Alderaan is the humble nerf. (As in, 'Why you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking... nerf-herder!') And nerf steaks are on the menu, served with something akin to potatoes and salad. There are also poultry items and seafood on the menu as well, but Niverian will definitely be ordering a steak.

Purple decides to order a nerf steak as well, with potatoes and a soup. "If you have anything unique to suggest for dessert..."

Then she giggles, realizing that might sound a little naughty.

He laughs a little himself. "Not at the moment, but I'm sure I'll think of something," he replies, reaching over to brush a lock of her hair behind one ear. He decides not to move his chair back to its original position, even though they've ordered and don't need to peruse the menu together any more; he rather enjoys being this close to her.

Purple smiles gently as he brushes that lock of her hair behind her ear. And doesn't move his back back to its original position.

She enjoys being close to him too.

"What is the best place you had the chance to visit?"

He makes a thoughtful humming noise, leaning his head very gently against hers. "Tough call," he answers. "Nar Shaddaa was interesting, if only because of the lights and the sheer bustle of being on a moon completely covered in city. Visiting the ice planet Hoth several months ago agreed most with my biology, as my species evolved on a similar world. I got to see the place where Sith learn to use their powers once, but the one time was enough... Korriban isn't a pleasant place to be; the only reason I wanted to see it even the one time was because I'm a patriot. Dromund Kaas is the Imperial capital, so I spend a lot of time there, but it isn't exactly pleasant either... I don't really know." He pauses. "Or... wait, there is one planet that stands out, out of the way, picturesque, quiet. My fathers and I all have safehouses there. Places we can escape to if we make the wrong kind of enemies, where they won't find us, and we can lie low for a bit. It's called Aite."

She smiles when he makes that humming noise, finding it quite cute. And she listens intently to the descriptions of the places he has visited.

"I can't... I can't imagine how boring Los Angeles must be to you."

He smiles over at her. "It isn't boring," he answers, honestly. "It's... frankly, fascinating. I'm so used to how advanced everything is here, it's... a very different experience, to see someplace that isn't. To see the solutions people come up with to solve problems or aid them in accomplishing goals when they don't have the resources people here do. I admire their creativity, their ingenuity. And in some ways... it's like stepping back in time. Seeing how things might've been in my galaxy before the first sentient life forms reached the stars." The smile broadens a little. "My people enjoy studying other cultures. Understanding them. Part of it's a defence mechanism, in case we come under attack by those other cultures. But we still strive to learn about them. And in that regard, I'm no different from any other Chiss. Other societies, other realities, are fascinating to me."

"Fascinating..." Purple smiles when he describes what he likes about her world.

"You must get to explore so many different cultures."

"Oh, yes," he answers, smiling broadly, "even without taking into account other realities. There are some species here who haven't yet reached the stars. Others who have, but that I wasn't familiar with when I first visited their worlds." He gestures around them. "Like Alderaan, for instance. Before I came here on assignment, the only thing I knew about Alderaan was that it was a founding world in the Galactic Republic, but had recently seceded, apparently because they objected to the Republic signing the Treaty of Coruscant with the Empire. After I got here and got to work, though, I learned much more about the Alderaanians, and about the original native sentient species, the Killiks. The realities that aren't mine add more to that list too, of course."

"It must be so different..." She gently strokes his hand with her thumb. "Being able to use your abilities on an actual job."

"It gives me purpose," he agrees, smiling, enjoying the feel of the gentle strokes of her thumb. "But you also do the same thing with your talents. Whether or not you're getting paid for it, in a lot of ways, the Initiative is still your job."

"I don't get the same adventure you do," She chuckles lightly. "But we are trying to protect those we can. And it is better, than what it used to be..."

He chuckles quietly himself, turning his hand over, palm-up, so he can clasp hers, then lacing their fingers. "True," he concedes. "You're doing good work. Every world deserves to have people who look out for and protect those who can't do so themselves. And the more of those protectors there are, the better."

"It is a nice feeling, helping those who need it most."

"It certainly is," he agrees, smiling. After a moment, he leans over to kiss her again, sliding his fingers into her hair. And this kiss definitely isn't as brief as the first one they shared, though neither is it particularly heated. It's gentle and leisurely; he usually saves the more passionate sort of kisses for... private moments, when no-one else is around.

The second kiss is a little nicer than the first one, since it is longer, and gentle. And while it is not heated, there is still passion shared between them.

"You are going to make me want to go right to dessert."

He laughs gently again, brushing a hand down her right arm for a moment. "Oh, there'll be time for that later," he murmurs, with a bit of a sly smile on his face. He spots the tattoo on her arm a moment later, and leans back just a little to get a better look at it, brushing his fingers over one of the roses depicted in it. "Beautiful tattoo," he notes, smiling. "Did you have this before the Initiative found you, or is it a new addition?"

"Before the Initiative found me. Ink doesn't stay on the skin anymore, since the enhancements provided enhanced healing." She is enjoying the gentle tracing of his fingers against her arm.

He nods. "Ah, yes. That makes sense." He traces the outlines of one of the skulls with the tip of his finger. "I most frequently see Sith tattoos... many human Sith have abstract designs tattooed in red on their faces, mostly designs from the ancient Sith race's culture. Bounty hunters, mercenaries, and pirates also often get tattoos, but those tend to be more artistic and recognizable. I've seen some bounty hunters who have their faces tattooed to look like skulls. Others with thorny vines on one side of their faces... They're much more varied about their designs than the Sith are." He leans forward again and presses a gentle kiss to the 'forehead' of the skull whose outlines he'd been tracing previously.

Then he sits up straight again as their waitress brings out their appetizers, the soup for Purple, and Niverian's salad. Niverian thanks the waitress, who also kindly moves his place setting for him, departing with a small smile on her face, apparently the result of an internal 'aww, how sweet' reaction to seeing a new couple together.

She smiles gently when he kisses one of her skull tattoos, taking the moment to gently caress his hair. And she smiles again when the waitress makes the adjustment to Niverian's place setting.

"One question... What are Sith?"

He pauses in picking up his fork for a moment to collect his thoughts. "Here in my reality, we have this sort of... energy field, created and sustained by life, called the Force. According to both the Jedi and the Sith, most people have a very slight, small connection to the Force which manifests itself as a person's instincts and intuition. But there are also people who have a much stronger connection to the Force, and that strong connection gives them all sorts of powers and abilities. Many of them are similar to April's, though April is actually a much more powerful psychic than any Force user. All Force-users have mild telepathy and empathy, telekinesis, and a sort of sixth sense, occasionally mild foresight..." He takes a bite of salad, and makes sure he finishes eating it before he continues. "From there, though, that's where differences start to arise, depending on which Order the Force user belongs to. The Sith are the Force-using order who created the Empire. Many of them are capricious, cruel, all are passionate, but some of them are actually rather pleasant to be around. Warmer, and kind to those they consider friends." His mind drifts briefly to his friend Kayla Ryn, one of those warmer and friendlier Sith. "The Jedi Order is the other Force-using order. They suppress their emotions, believing that surrendering to their passions will lead them to evil. The Jedi are allied with the Empire's enemy, the Galactic Republic, and consider themselves its protectors." He pauses momentarily, apparently debating something internally, then adds, "I have a cousin in the Jedi Order. Jedi Master Zalgast. Even though we're on opposite sides of the war, he usually has no problem working with me from time to time, when the situation calls for it."
