Anastasia has arranged a nice picnic at Long Beach, complete with a variety of fruits and cheeses. She selected some place far away enough from Los Angeles, so not have to deal with the daily drama that occurs in the larger city.

The weather was nice today too. She watched the waves, as she waited for Niverian to arrive. As she waited, Purple enjoyed the sunlight. Today she was wearing a sexy sailor swimsuit.

"I have to say... just getting away for a while is really nice." She adjusts to rest her head on his lap.

"Mmm," he agrees, softly, returning to combing a hand through her hair. "Feels a lot like shore leave..." He glances down at her, still smiling. "But... that's pretty much how being with you always feels. ...Well, sort of." He frowns a little. "It's... hard to put into words."

"Naughty things happen on shore leave," Purple teases him.

"Are you saying you feel naughty around me?"

He chuckles. "Oh, that's definitely part of it," he replies, grinning. His expression sobers just a little, and he adds, "Being on shore leave is also a... it's a huge relief for me. A lot times, at work, I feel like I have the weight of the galaxy resting on my shoulders. And when I'm with you... it's like that weight just vanishes." He pauses for a moment, thinking about it a little more. "It's like... taking a gasp of desperately-needed air after being held underwater for several minutes."

"You dedicate yourself to your job, and you are important to the cause..." Purple smiles softly. "But I am glad... that you don't feel that weight around me. That you don't feel strained or stressed."

He smiles and brushes a hand across one of her cheeks. "I'm glad too... I didn't realize how much I need that relief until we started seeing each other."

"I am glad that I could provide you that... everyone deserves a break."

He keeps smiling at her, picks up one of her hands, and presses a gentle, lingering kiss to the back of that hand. "Love you," he murmurs, shifting his hand to brush up and down her arm now.

"I love you too." She smiles up at him, watching him brush his hand up and down her arm.

He spends a few moments like that, before he leans down to give her an upside-down kiss. When he pulls away, he remarks, "You know... there's some perfectly good ocean over there... Shall we go for a swim?"

"Sure... the water is always nice in California." Purple raises from her spot, to head towards the water.

Niverian gets up and follows her, shrugging out of his shirt and leaving it with their picnic stuff, catching up to her and slipping an arm around her waist as they head towards the ocean.

She smiles softly at the arm around her waist, as they enter the water. "Stick to the shallow end. There are sharks out there."

"So noted," he replies with a quiet laugh as they wade in. She's right, the water is, apparently, always nice in California. He stops wading when the water's up to about waist-height on him.

((Having now had a chance to visually check the comparison between someone who's 6'1" and someone who's 5'9", Purple comes up to about brow height on him, so I'd estimate the water would be about... hip deep for her.))

Once they get to this point in the water, Purple just leans back, allowing herself to get full emersed into the ocean. Just floating there for a while.

"It has been ages since I was at the ocean."

He goes underwater for a few moments, resurfacing beside her and sitting cross-legged on the ocean floor so that the water's about halfway up his torso, just letting the waves roll past him. "It's been awhile for me too," he agrees, smiling. "Last time I had the opportunity, I was... sixteen, I think? So five years ago."

She reaches out to wrap her arms around his neck, so she can continue to float, without moving away from him. The waves giving her the sensation of a relaxing massage.

"You will be able to come and visit more often now."

He gets his arms around her waist and leans forward to nuzzle her for a moment, smiling. "I will indeed," he agrees with a quiet chuckle. "We should definitely have dates here more often..."

"Anytime you want."

"Good to know..." he leans in for another kiss, gentle and slow. He generally prefers to save the more heated, passionate kisses for when they're behind closed doors, just the two of them.

He confuses her sometimes. He is controlled in most situations... even in situations when she struggles with her own desires. Her own passions.

"I could spend all day out here."

Some of it's a Chiss thing. 'Calm' and 'controlled' just come naturally to most of them, Niverian included. Though there are other reasons too, of course.

He smiles, nuzzling her again for a moment. "I don't see any reason why we can't," he replies with a quiet chuckle.

"Very true..." She gently pushes herself away from him. Floating in the water for a long moment.

He's a little disappointed, but he lets her, eventually shifting so that he's floating on his back too, closing his eyes for a moment, and letting the waves buffet him about a little.

After a moment in the shallow water, Anastasia rises and lets the water fall of her body. She can't stay in the water too long. Her cybernetics aren't affected by the moisture, but it is just still a strange foreign sensation. Not quite feeling the water everywhere on her body.

She returns to the blanket, smiling as she watches Niverian in the waves.
