Where the Wicked go after Death

Purple leans against a wall, inside the back-room of the Caritas. For the last hour or so, she has watched Winston (War) tend carefully to the ailing Lorne. Many of her siblings were around the bar, as one of Lorne's requests was for them to get acquainted with the business (so they could run it once he was gone from this world.).

It was almost too much to bear at times, to watch Lorne get sicker and sicker... and feel so helpless to help him. There were so many times when she was so close to tears... sick to her stomach with the thought of losing him.

Winston came to sit beside her. He smiled softly, looking at his younger sister. "Where is your boyfriend today?"

"You need to speak to him?"

"Yes. I do."

Purple pulled out her PINpoint, sending Niverian a message, asking him to come to the Caritas as soon as he was available.

"Either find another witness, question Lindsay himself, or question Persphone."

"Lindsay," he suggests immediately. She had the same ideas he did, apparently, and he was already leaning that way. "We need his side of the story. Which no-one apparently got when this first happened." Which concerns him, but those are concerns he'll address later. For now, they need to go to the Malebolge.

"We need to find safe passage to where he was moved..." And unfortunately she is not sure where to start.

Neither is Niverian, at least not at first. "I'm not sure where we might find one," he answers. "But... Mum and Dad might know."

"Hey... maybe we could use the opportunity to talk to your parents about Lindsay's mood. Get their impression on what happened."

He smiles broadly at her. "Good idea," he agrees. "So we just have to find them. Knowing this place, it won't take long."

"Lead the way, they usually sense you are looking for them, when they appear."

Cipher Nine smiles a little, and heads further into Tartarus, since they have to head that way anyway. He keeps a close eye on their surroundings, looking for his parents and trying to ignore the sight of suffering souls. Which, for him, is much harder than it seems.

They will have to alter their direction, heading a little out of Tartarus actually before his parents show up. They show up at the edge of Limbo, the world between the two worlds of the Underworld.

"As unfortunate the circumstances bring us, I am glad to see them again."

"As am I," Niverian agrees as he spots his parents. His pace picks up a little, a small smile crossing his face, and he goes to hug Lorvia and Nalresan as soon as he's within arm's reach of them.

Lorvia and Nalresan pull Purple into the hug as well as soon as they can reach her, Lorvia greeting both her son and Purple with a kiss on the forehead as well. They linger in the group hug for only a few moments before Lorvia asks them, "You're here about Lindsay?"

"We heard that he was moved into the Ninth Circle... and trying to determine if it was the right and just thing."

((I figured it was a safe assumption that Lorvia and Nalresan would've helped get the word out about Lindsay being moved. >.> Also, if you could PM me what Lorvia and Nalresan would know about the situation, that would be awesome :).))

Lorvia breathes out a quiet breath. "Good. Word got to you then. As soon as we heard about it, we tried to get a message to you."

Cipher Nine arches an eyebrow for a moment, but then decides that he shouldn't be surprised. "Word reached us, yes," he confirms. "What's your take on the situation?"

"We don't trust that the entire truth has seen the light of day," Lorvia answers. "That's one of the reasons we tried to get a message to you."

"Did you notice any difference with Lindsay when you last saw him?"

"He was happier. Especially when we returned with one of his ex-loves." Nalresan answered. "He seemed a little anxious, at the best."

"But we know he wouldn't risk anything," Lorvia added.

"We need to see Lindsay and talk to him. Can you take us to the Ninth Circle?"

((That works too :). Also, as a heads-up, wanted to let you know that I'm leaning very heavily towards Cheldero, my LS-Sith Assassin, actually being Niverian's son, as I've listed him in my family tree on TOR. That okay with you? :). If so, he will need a new name. >.>))

Lorvia nods decisively. "Of course. Right this way. And stay close." She and Nalresan both turn to head back towards Tartarus. Cipher Nine falls in step behind them a few moments later, continuing to keep a wary eye on their surroundings, out of sheer force of habit.

If they thought the First Circle of Tartarus was bad, every circle gets worse and worse. Darker and darker. More and more pain and torture and lost souls.

Until the arrive to the last and darkest of all the circles -- the Ninth.

When they do find Lindsay, they will hardly recognize him. He is a shell of his former self. His very soul being drained away from him... stage by stage...

((Yay! For now I'm thinking just the two kids. I see Neriath being the elder brother by a year or two. >.> We should get together and knock heads about the timing of this stuff when we get a chance.))

Cipher Nine freezes for a moment, reaching for Purple's hand and squeezing it as tightly as he can without hurting her, stomach turning, a growl trying to fight its way up his chest and throat as horror and rage war inside him. The pain of the souls they passed on their way here was bad enough... this is almost more than he can bear to witness. "We have to stop this," he breathes quietly, clenching his jaw. "He doesn't deserve it."

"I have to wonder... about everyone else here..." Purple whispers.

((well I could see Neriath being the same age of Dru/Drake. That would make the three biological Kentlings older than him. After all Jonathan and Laura are already born. And Will comes in three years... a little too soon for Purple and Niverian to be having children (in my opinion). And the younger brother the same age as Martha))

Cipher Nine closes his eyes for a moment. "I do too... but... we need to focus on Lindsay for now. I imagine that, with a few exceptions, most of the souls in this circle have earned their place here." He takes a deep breath, blinks open his eyes, and takes a step towards Lindsay, touching a hand gently to the man's shoulder. "Lindsay?"

((That sounds pretty good, actually. And I agree, they should be together for several years before kids come into the picture. I also see them being married at that point, because... well, Niv's going to want to propose after a few years. Maybe around the time Will is born.

I also think the first pregnancy should be a complete surprise to them—Niverian is unaware that Chiss and humans can interbreed, and therefore wouldn't have any reason to think he might get Ana pregnant.))

The man flinches. "Go away! I didn't do anything." He doesn't seem to recognize either of them. Niverian's parents will also feel very uncomfortable in this area... as it pulls at their own souls too.

((that is completely doable, on both cases. Ana wouldn't have any reason she could get pregnant either. I can see her walking in a daze for the first few days, after finding out))

Cipher Nine squeezes Lindsay's shoulder gently, trying to be reassuring. "We're not here to hurt you," he says. "In fact, we want to try to get you out. Do you know why you're here?"

Lorvia and Nalresan have stepped closer to each other, holding hands rather tightly, both looking around furtively. "We shouldn't stay very long," Nalresan tells his son. "Or the same may happen to us as well."

"Doomed... doomed... not enough. Not enough." Lindsay rambles.

Purple frowns, she doesn't want anything to happen to Niverian's parents. "I don't think he will be able to help us." She feels like crying.

((sounds good. I have to sleep now))

Cipher Nine's stomach clenches, and he puts an arm around Purple's waist and pulls her a little closer to him, so she has a shoulder to cry on. He's not quite ready to give up yet, though... Something in Lindsay's ramblings might be significant. "Just, one more moment," he murmurs to her, before looking up at Lindsay. "What's not enough?" he asks gently.

Lindsay grabs him, when he gets close enough, and Niverian can feel a force pulling at his soul. "I need more..."

((Niverian didn't actually move from where he was standing, but maybe Lindsay could have taken a couple of steps towards him instead?))

It can be hard not to panic in a circumstance like this, and Cipher Nine nearly does, before managing to stamp down on it. Instead, he reaches up and tightly grips Lindsay's wrist, bending it backward at a very uncomfortable angle in an effort to get Lindsay to drop him. "Let go," he says through gritted teeth.

Lindsay lets go, not even having enough fight for this situation. "There is never enough..."
